My Advice to Mark Zuckerberg for Investing the Creator Economy

Earlier this week, Mark Zuckerberg shared a post about his intentions to invest in the Creator Economy.

If you’re a creator who has spent money on Facebook ads, you may be getting a refund, not an investment.

His intentions may be pure, but creators should have a seat at the table when someone wants to make decisions about their livelihood.

As a creator, I have been the beneficiary of Facebook. I turned a series of Facebook status updates into a self-published book that became a WSJ bestseller and eventually led to a book deal.

That wasn’t a strategy. It was dumb luck. On the other hand, lots of people create and share content on Facebook that doesn’t see the light of day.
