Developing the Scout Mindset

Our choices and beliefs are often shaped by our present bias and immediate rewards. We tend to be biased towards what we want to be true, and our beliefs are often shaped by what will give us the most immediate reward. To counteract this, Julia Galef suggests developing what she calls the “scout mindset”, which encourages us to be aware of our own biases and to question our assumptions.
