How I Use Chat GPT to Turn a Podcast Transcript into a Comic
Creating a comic strip from a podcast transcript is a great way to make the content more engaging and memorable. In this post, I’ll be exploring how to use chat GPT and Dall-E to turn a podcast transcript into a comic strip. I’ll also share the resources I used to complete this project. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Identify the Content You Want to Use
I wanted someone who was reading the comic to understand the main points of the interview. So, I went through the transcript of my interview with Ramit Sethi and identified the most useful takeaways. I then divided these into the following sections:
- Frugality
- Worry Free Numbers
- Invisible Scripts
- How to Design Your Rich Life by Getting Specific
This was the most time-consuming step of the process. And it’s an example of what I talk about when I say you want to leverage AI to complement your abilities, not replace them.
Step 2: Using Chat GPT to Generate Captions and Illustration Suggestions
After identifying the content I wanted to use, I copied each section into chat GPT and typed the prompt: Generate captions and illustration ideas for a 4-panel comic strip based on the text below. I repeated this process for each of the four sections.
Step 3: Using Dall-E to Generate Images
After chat GPT generated captions and illustrations suggestions, I pasted each illustration suggestion into Dall-E and with the suggestion Graphic Novel Style. This took a few attempts, and I requested variations on a few of the images.
Step 4: Layout the Comic in Canva
Finally, I used Canva to layout the comic strip. I chose a 4-panel comic strip layout and used the illustrations generated by Dall-E and the captions generated by chat GPT to create an engaging comic strip that accurately conveyed the key takeaways from the Ramit 2023 Transcript.
It’s important to note that, because Ramit’s interview was filled with valuable insight, it made it easy to structure this project. AI is a great tool, but it does require human input. If the content of the podcast isn’t great, you won’t get great results from chat GPT. This project won’t work for every podcast, but it could work for many of them. You can see the results of the project in the comic strip below.
